“These wines express the unique characteristics of each grape variety planted at Ravasqueira. They combine the new world oenology with the elegance of the old world’s traditional wines, highlighting the concentration and freshness that characterise the Ravasqueira terroir, thus enabling a great potential for ageing in bottle.
They result from a limited selection of the best plants on each block, that usually produce the best berries and in smaller clusters, demonstrating an ideal balance of the vineyard for the production of high-quality wines.

With a limited production, this Alvarinho is the result of an oenology concept that materialises, every year, into the production of unique and exceptional wines that reflect the singularity and character of the terroir on which each variety is planted.
100% Alvarinho. The grapes were harvested from three specific zones of two blocks of the Monte da Ravasqueira vineyard. With no influence of wood and only under the influence of low temperatures and regular battonage, this wine has found the best way to express all its freshness, aromatic intensity, texture and ageing potential.

Tasting Notes
Colour with intense and bright greenish and lemon tones. Expressive nose with intense orange blossom, gaining expression with temperature and over time in the glass. Floral notes, lightly tropical and light white pepper, dry style with focus on freshness-acidity and texture. A very mineral character with citric notes to taste, and very long. A wine to be tried now, but with great potential for ageing.

With a limited production of 3,460 bottles, this Viognier is the result of an oenology concept that brings to fruition the production of unique and exceptional wines every year, reflecting the singularity and character of the terroir where each grape variety is planted.
100% Viognier, a grape variety of French origin that found in the thermal amplitudes of the Monte da Ravasqueira a particular and unprecedented way of expressing its freshness and intense character. Two harvests, at different dates, were made on the same block in order to take advantage of the heterogeneity of maturation, so characteristic of this caste. The work translated into two batches: the first staged without influence of wood and only under the influence of low temperatures and regular battonage, thus finding the best way to express all of its freshness; the second aged in new and used barrels of French oak, seeking to express texture and complexity.

Tasting Notes
Light green straw colour, with bright lemony tones. Intense nose of apricot and white chocolate. Profile of great intensity, mineral, spicy, and complex, with notes of matchstick head and light gunpowder. To taste, it is bulky and textured, mineral, with predominant notes of pineapple, tangerine, and a hint of mint. A wine to be appreciated now, but with great potential of guard.

Tasting Notes
Closed, dark, opaque, and dense in colour. Nose with an exuberant aromatic freshness. Serious, with notes of black fruits, broom, black olive, and mineral. In the test, all of the aromatic characteristics are felt, with a long attack and volume. Spicy and growing tannins. It opens up and reveals itself with time in the glass, increasing its intensity.

Syrah and Viognier form, in particular conditions, a unique and unusual blend. This blend, originating in the north of the Rhone Valley, has spread throughout the world, emphasizing its importance in Australia. The 2012 harvest gave rise to the first wine of these two grape varieties produced at Monte da Ravasqueira.
97% Syrah, 3% Viognier. The Viognier grapes were harvested late and frozen, awaiting the Syrah harvest. Only two bunches per vine were left so that the Viognier grapes acquired an aromatic concentration. The Syrah is sourced from the Vinha das Romãs plot, but from different areas and selected according to this wine’s profile.

Tasting Notes
Dense, black colour. Nose with a mixture of peppers, ripe red fruits, tar, and a hint of light peach and apricot. Mineral, full of volume, tannins in constant balance with the vivid and vibrant acidity. Complex, with notes of mocha, coffee, and biscuit. Fine, constant tannins, with a mineral and minty prolongation.

A simply different wine.
100% Sangiovese. The variety, mostly planted in Italy and of difficult viticulture, found a peculiar way of expressing itself at Monte da Ravasqueira. It has an irreverent behaviour, similar to the grapes it originates from. Tannins and acidity are the two best words to describe this caste. The grapes were hand-harvested into boxes of 20kg, followed by a period of cooling before vinification.

Tasting Notes

Benefits from airing in a decanter. Due to its characteristics, it will present a much more elegant and complex profile over the next six years. Intense garnet colour with medium density, so characteristic of the grape variety. Nose with dry fruit, coffee, and a hint of chocolate, but somewhat closed, rising in intensity with time, and with minty notes. To taste, it has intense notes of cherry, tobacco, and several mineral notes that, at times, overpower the palate, as well as a great freshness and a taste of vegetables. Deep and dry tannins, revealing an imperative gastronomic profile.

Nero d’Avola is one of the most important grape varieties in Italy. Originally from southern Sicily, it arrived at Monte da Ravasqueira by the hand of José Manuel de Mello in his incessant search for different ways to explore the terroir and to produce atypical, defiant wines. In the 2012 harvest, this wish was fulfilled, giving rise to a unique and rare wine in Portugal that retains its original characteristics yet expresses well the unique freshness and mineral character of our grapes.
100% Nero d’Avola, which in 2013 proved to be precocious and fast-maturing. Acidity, aromatic intensity and density of tannins are the adjectives that best characterise this year’s grapes. Harvested by hand, followed by a period of cooling before vinification.

Tasting Notes
Vivid and intense red colour. Closed, complex nose, in need of decanting. Light notes of eucalyptus, varied peppers, floral, and with intense cherry notes. Full and elegant to taste. High density of fine tannins, in balance with mineral acidity, fleshy and light vegetable.

A classical French variety from the region of Bordeaux, France, the Petit Verdot was planted in Monte da Ravasqueira in an area with sandier soils and with a greater depth. Close to a stream and surrounded by weathered shale and granite rocks, it has a very constant annual productive balance, providing many clusters of small berries, very concentrated in tannins and acidity. A late grape variety, which is always the last to be harvested, in early October.
100% Petit Verdot, coming from different areas of a 2-hectare vineyard. Harvested by hand into boxes of 20kg.

Tasting Notes
Dense, red colour. Intense nose, vegetable, ripe black fruit, spicy, with notes of integrated barrel. In tasting, it is full of tannins, fine dryness and acidity, black cherry, white pepper, blueberries, and liquorice. Minty finish, with spicy tannins.
