The first Guarda Rios harvest was done in 2006 and, curiously, not in the Alentejo. This wine is associated to the Winemaker and Director of Monte da Ravasqueira, who, in 2012, brought the Guarda Rios with him. Like the birds, this wine migrated and settled next to the dams on a property in Arraiolois, where it found the ideal terroir in which to express all its exuberance and vivacity.

In the wine cellar, these grapes were vinified at low temperatures in order to preserve the intensity of the aromas and flavours so typical of this region’s grape varieties. The wine was then fermented in stainless steel vats and partially aged in barrels of French oak. It goes well with intense flavours.

Tasting Notes
Composed of grape varieties typical to the region, together with international castes that are usually planted in the Alentejo region. In the test, it presents great aromatic intensity, with fresh fruit, such as plums and blackberries. Elegance and freshness mark this wine with an elegant, harmonious, and gastronomic profile. It aims to be drunk as a day-to-day accompaniment at the table.

Tasting Notes
This wine is made from a selection of the Aragonez and Syrah grapes found in the freshest and most acidic zones of the plot. It has a soft, salmon colour and an intense nose with wild aromas and forest fruits. A crisp acidity in taste, ideal as an aperitif or to accompany lighter dishes.

In the wine cellar, the grapes were vinified at low temperatures in order to preserve the intensity showed by these varieties. The wine fermented in stainless steel vats, and 30% of it staged and fermented in barrels of French oak. It is a great accompaniment for complex and intense flavours, such as grilled meats, salads, seafood, and assorted fish.

Tasting Notes
Comprising the Antão Vaz, Arinto, Viognier, and Semillon grape varieties, this wine presents a good volume and complexity, provided by the work of lees in tub and its stage in barrels. Acidity is present, but is balanced, and yellow in colour, with greenish overtones. The nose presents notes of ripe fruit, together with green notes of fresh-cut grass. The minerality that the partial fermentation and stage in barrel transmitted to it allow this wine to be appreciated outside a meal, as well as an accompaniment to dishes of lean meat and fish.
